Being a dad myself, I can certainly understand how important it is to be able to attend your kids’ games. With that said, it wasn’t a really smart decision on the part of New Jersey’s Governor to take a helicopter ride to his son’s baseball game on the taxpayers’ tab. Especially when you take into consideration that the city of Newark laid off 167 cops and since those layoffs, the homicide rate has increased by 71 percent, and overall crime by 21 percent. And if you really think about it, how many ‘regular’ moms and dads miss events that are a lot more important than a baseball game due ‘scheduling conflicts’ aka work? Was it a moment of thoughtlessness on the Governor’s part, or is it just another case of politicians revealing their true colors, once again letting us know how much better than us they think they are?
